Toni Preckwinkle, Cook County families celebrate Chinese New Year

From ABC-7 News Chicago–Chicago is celebrating the Year of the Rabbit.
The Chinese Mutual Aid Association hosted a Chinese New Year celebration at Truman College.
In addition to the traditional lion dance, there were activities for kids.
Sen. Dick Durbin, Attorney General Lisa Madigan, Comptroller Judy Barr Topinka and Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle were just some of the dignitaries on hand.
“I just wanted to say for the record, when the president of China was choosing places to visit, he visited Washington, D.C., and Chicago, Illinois!” Durbin said.
“I’ve always thought that Chicago’s strength was its great racial and ethnic diversity, it’s enriched our city and made it stronger. So I’m happy to be here to celebrate,” Preckwinkle said.
The Chinese Mutual Aid Association serves more than 10,000 immigrants and refugees through its offices in Uptown.
