Get there early: Clerk Orr to name first couple to obtain a marriage license on 4/29 “Cook County’s Royal Couple”

What: In honor of the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, Clerk David Orr will dub the first couple to obtain a marriage license tomorrow morning as Cook County’s royal couple. The couple will cut a three-tiered wedding cake donated by Eli’s Cheesecake and take another cake home.
When: 8:30 a.m. Friday, April 29
Where: Cook County Vital Records, 50 W. Washington, CL 25 in the Daley Center Pedway.
Background: The Clerk’s office and Eli’s Cheesecake held a similar “ceremony” in 1981 on the day Prince Charles married Lady Diana Spencer.

Absolutely! We have a lot planned for the first civil union licenses on June 1. It will be a celebration.
