Preckwinkle Releases First Year Report

By at December 7, 2011 | 9:03 am | Print

Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle today released the one-year report marking her first year in office.  The report details the President’s accomplishments since first taking office in every major area of County Government, specifically highlighting the President’s four goals of fiscal responsibility, innovative leadership, transparency and accountability, and improved services.

“We have accomplished a great deal in our first year in office: passing two budget that save taxpayers over $800, continuing our commitment to rolling back the Stroger sales tax increase and making strategic structural changes to County government,” President Preckwinkle said.  “We know there is more work to be done, particularly in the areas of public safety and public health which account for over two-thirds of our budget.  Through collaboration and cooperation, I will continue to work Cook County Board of Commissioners and other County separately elected officials to bring real, County-wide reform to the residents of Cook County.”

The President also posted on her website a survey for County Residents to “Tell Toni” what they would like to see the County do over the course of the next year.

“I’ve made it a priority to engage directly with residents and I will continue to do so,” Preckwinkle said.  “In order to be effective you have to work to bring people together to pursue effective and sustainable solutions in all areas of government.”
