Commissioner Larry Rogers, Jr. of the Cook County Board of Review, along with Congressman Jesse Jackson, Jr., State Senator Maggie Crotty, State Senator Toi W. Hutchinson, State Representative William Q. Davis, Cook County Commissioner Deborah Sims, Rich Township Supervisor and State Representative Al Riley, Rich Township Assessor Carol Ranieri, Rich Township Trustee Elliott Johnson, and Matteson Trustee Sam Brown will be holding two free property tax appeal community outreach forums in Rich Township:
1/30/12 at 7:00 PM – Freedom Hall – 410 Lakewood Blvd., Park Forest, IL.
2/6/12 at 7:00 PM – Sieden Prairie Elementary School – 725 Notre Dame Dr., Matteson, IL.
These forums will consist of a presentation, where the function of the Cook County Board of Review, issues surrounding property tax assessed valuations, and the importance of filing a property tax assessment appeal will be discussed. After the presentation there will be a question and answer period, after which Board of Review staff will assist attendees with filling out assessed valuation appeal forms. Taxpayers are urged to please bring their tax bill to the events.
Commissioner Rogers has launched an aggressive community outreach campaign in response to the property tax crisis that residents across many communities of Cook County have been facing. He stated that “Through unemployment or underemployment, taxpayers are simply without the means to afford exorbitant tax bills.”
The Board of Review does not assess property, set tax rates, or collect taxes. There is no fee to file an appeal, and in most cases an attorney is not necessary. Board of Review complaint forms can be obtained at the office of Commissioner Larry Rogers, Jr. in the Cook County Building located at 118 N. Clark, Room 601, Chicago, IL 60602. They may also be found and filed on the Board of Review website at: www.cookcountyboardofreview.com. For further information about appealing your property taxes, you may contact Commissioner Rogers’ office at (312) 603-5540. Office hours are 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

My phone # is 847-848-8845. PLEASE LOSE IT! You continue to call me with an automated message that is very difficult to understand. I had to listen 3x to know who was calling me. I DO NOT live in Chicago Area any longer, and when I did, I DID NOT live in Cook County. Would you please be a little more discerning when you send out frivolous messages and for God’s sake, one message is more than sufficient! I work nights and you wake me with this nonsense. I’d think that being the Commissioner, you’d know who was and wasn’t in your district! DB
