Winning Projects Announced in Brookfield Zoo’s Science Fair

On Friday, February 3, the Brookfield Zoo hosted a Science Fair for Chicago Public Schools Students. Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle attended the event as a guest judge, and recognized three students with the Forest Preserve District’s “Wild About Nature” Science Fair Award.
The winning students, along with their teachers and families, will be invited to the May 2, 2012 Forest Preserve District Board meeting where they will be recognized by President Preckwinkle and Forest Preserve District Superintendent Arnold Randall.
The awarded projects are:
1. Vanessa Gonzalez, Grade 9 – What pH do freshwater goldfish thrive in? (relavance – water quality, aquatic habitat health)
2. Natalie Bobrowska, Grade 8 – Vibrant Solar Rays (relavance – turbidity – aquatic habitat health)
3. Fabio Saabedra, Grade 7 – Does Color Affect Plant Growth? (relevance – light level effects on plants)
