Matt Maloney is the Director of Health Policy of the Respiratory Health Association of Metropolitan Chicago (RHAMC) formerly known as the American Lung Association of Metropolitan Chicago. Maloney develops, communicates and pursues the public policy initiatives of the organization at the local, state and federal level. He represents RHAMC on many committees and coalitions impacting the mission of the organization and has led RHAMC’s efforts of the smoke-free Chicago coalition. He works on smoke-free campaigns across the metropolitan region, as well as worked successfully with partners on the passage of the smoke-free Illinois law that went into effect on January 1st of this year. Maloney also lead efforts to secure legislation authorizing a state income tax check-off to support lung cancer research.
In recognition of his efforts he has received the “Excellence in Public Health Policy Award” from the Illinois Public Health Association for his work on clean air initiatives and a Golden Trumpet Award from the Publicity Club of Chicago.Maloney previously worked on staff with Illinois House of Representatives Speaker Madigan and as the Director of Public Affairs for the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago.
