Brenda K. Arreola: 10th District Winner, 2012 Peggy A. Montes Unsung Heroine of Cook County Award

Brenda Arreola has spent most of her life in Chicago, since moving here with her family from Kentucky in 1959.  In 1987, Brenda became a member of St. Gertrude Catholic Parish in West Rogers Park, and not just a member, but a very active member.

In 2002, Brenda began working for St. Gertrude’s Heart to Heart organization, a volunteer program that helpers older persons with small tasks so they can continue independent living in their own homes.  Brenda also oversees Heart to Heart’s Lending Closet, another unique service offered through the parish.

Brenda’s hands and hearts are definitely in the right place, and her parish community, as well as her community at large, is a much better place as a result of her commitment and dedication to volunteerism.
