Dorian Carter serves her community through an unwavering commitment to improving the lives of women and girls.
In 1999, Dorian co-founded The Glass Slipper Project a 100% volunteer program that provides junior and senior high school girls, who may not otherwise be able to afford their high school prom, with prom attire from head to toe.
During that first year of existence, Oprah Winfrey selected the Glass Slipper Project for her Angel Network. After an appearance on the Oprah show, the number of donated prom dress give-away programs grew. There are now over 200 prom dress give-away programs around the country, and the Hearst Corporation has created a prom dress association called Donate My Dress.
Since its creation thirteen years ago, the Glass Slipper Project has dressed over 23,000 girls for prom from throughout the Chicago and Cook County region.
