Rev. Camilla Scott Tanner: 3rd District Winner, 2012 Peggy A. Montes Unsung Heroine of Cook County Award

Rev. Camilla Tanner has been a giver all of her life.

In 2000, Rev. Camilla founded and is now co-Pastor of “The Temple of Agape,” a non-denominational ministry in the Woodlawn area.  Each Sunday, Rev. Camilla serves a full meal to the congregation and each year hosts a Thanksgiving dinner for the homeless and less fortunate people who live in the area. Rev. Camilla also provides service as a hospice chaplain for Horizon Hospice.  Her care also calls for her to comfort not just the patients, but their families as well, during this difficult time.

Rev. Camilla lives by two rules: “Do unto others as you would like them to do unto you,” and “to whom much is given, much is expected.”
