Rev. Wanda Y. Parker: 4th District Winner, 2012 Peggy A.Montes Unsung Heroine of Cook County Award

Rev. Wanda Parker was ordained in the United Methodist Church and has served the church and its community for over seventeen years.  She has served at 6 different churches and instituted successful summer youth programs for each church and their surrounding communities.

Most recently, Rev. Wanda is working with staff from the Covenant United Church of Christ in visitation of the acutely ill and those awaiting surgery. She also developed a drama ministry at the church which is now known as Covenant Players.  Rev. Wanda wrote and directed a play performed by the newly formed drama ministry.

In addition, Rev. Wanda also works with the Southland Breast Cancer coalition educating African American women of the need for life saving mammograms.
